Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike prescribes capital punishment for cultists, criminals in the State
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike says the state
Government will amend the State Anti-kidnapping Law to prescribe death sentence
for criminals involved in cultism, robbery and kidnapping.
In a state broadcast on the killing of Johnson
Igwedibia alias Don Wanny, Governor Wike stated that the Rivers State
Government has zero tolerance for crime and criminality as it will
continue to take measures to protect lives and property.
The governor also commended President Mohammadu
Buhari and the Security agencies for their support to the Rivers State
Government in maintaining law and order.
Governor Wike further listed thirty two cultists
from twelve local government areas to be arrested and prosecuted by the
security agencies.
The Rivers State Governor added that twenty million
naira will be paid to anybody who provides useful information on the arrests of
the cultists.
