Tricycle (Keke) operators plying Ada-George road Port Harcourt decry heavy levying by union body
Some tricycle riders
popularly known as Keke riders plying the Ada-George and Agip roads have called
for the reduction of their union levy which was recently increased.
The keke riders
lamented that they are forcefully made to get daily tickets from different task
force unions in the area.
Some keke riders Mr.
Godwin Ukuda and Mr. Umoh who decried the increment of the price of tickets,
from two hundred naira to six hundred naira stated that it has brought untold
hardship to them as they go home with little or nothing to cater for their
families.
A tricycle rider Mr.
Chigozie also complained that taxi’s and buses pay two hundred naira as against
the six hundred naira being paid by keke riders.
The keke riders
appealed to the Rivers State government to intervene on the issue to avoid increase
in transport fares.
