NAFDAC to synergize with traders in Rivers State in fight against fake products
The National Agency for
Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, in Rivers State and the
Rivers State Traders and Market Women Association is to collaborate to check
the incidence of fake and counterfeit products in stores and markets across the
State.
This understanding was
reached during a courtesy visit by the Market Women Association executives to
NAFDAC South South Zonal Office in Port Harcourt.
Zonal Coordinator, Mrs.
Chinelo Eje who commended the Association for been responsive said the new
cooperation will help the agency in its task of ridding the market of
unwholesome product.
Mrs Eje however
stressed that the agency has not relented in carrying out its routine
inspections across the State.
The President General
of the Market Women Association, Mrs Edi Bright pledged the association’s
readiness to assist the agency in its task of safeguarding the health of the
Nation, by exposing suspected fake and counterfeit food products in the market.
Meanwhile, the South South Zonal
Coordinator, National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control,
NAFDAC Mrs Chinelo Eje says about four Bakeries in Rivers State have recently
been shot down due to their non- compliance with lay down guide lines.
Mrs. Eje who made this
known in an interview with our correspondent Florence Israel said the agency
has never relented in their duties in sanitizing the society.
The NAFDAC boss however
called on the public to always patronise registered and hygienic bakeries.
