Rivers State NOA Boss calls for regulation of Social Media



Rivers State Director of National Orientation Agency, NOA; Mr. Oliver Wolugbom has however called on government to constitute a body to regulate information gotten on social media.


Mr. Wolugbom, while reacting to alleged vaccination by the Military in a phone interview with Treasure ; said a number of pupils were injured and property of schools destroyed as some parents and guardians tried to get into the schools by force.


He however advised that most information should be verified before taking action and all hands must be on deck to work against peddling false rumors and propaganda.

The NOA boss cautioned that this type of chaos can result to children being kidnapped or missing and urged the public to ascertain situations on ground before making such moves.



Mr. Wolugbom appealed to the Federal Ministry of Information and other relevant agencies to deal with propaganda and rumor peddling on all social media platforms.

Mr. Oliver Wolugbom also enjoined teachers to educate parents and their wards on the true situation of the matter which resulted in the chaos that took place in most schools in the State.
He appealed to the Head Teachers and Principals of schools to allow the school session to go on, uninterrupted.
Mr. Wolugbom also called on citizens of the state to be careful when reacting to issues to avoid any form of tragedy.
