Rivers House of Assembly lambasts Oil Company over outdated agreement with host Communities
Rivers State House of Assembly has ordered that a new
Global memorandum of Understanding GMoU be drafted between Niger Delta
Petroleum Resources NDPR and their host communities under Ahoada East local
Government Area of Rivers State
This is part of the Assembly’s effort to settle the issues
between Host Communities and the Company which was accused of operating with an
expired GMoU
Speaker of the Assembly, Ikunyi Ibani, while readsing out
the resolution after debating, said a new GMoU will help stabilize the
operation of the Company and assist the affected Communities.
Some of the lawakers who spoke during the plenary
reprehended the Company for operating with a GMoU that expired Four years ago.
