Pay our 24 months salary – RSSDA staff appeals to Rivers State Govt.

Staff
of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency, RSSDA are appealing to the
Rivers State Government to pay their twenty four months salaries owed workers
of the agency.
The
workers made the appeal when they embarked on a peaceful protest to Government
House, Monday, in Port Harcourt.
RSSDA
Union Chairman, Comrade Justice Nyebuchi Eleru who spoke on behalf
of the protesters lamented they were losing colleagues due to hunger.
Comrade
Eleru said they decided to embark on this protest after several letters to the
government about their plight remained unattended to.
Also
Chairman of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Civil Service
Technical and Recreational Service Employees, Comrade Ladepo Johnson, said they
decide to join in the protest to show solidarity.
The
workers maintained that they will persist in their request and called on well-meaning
individuals to come to their aid as no government official was around to
address them.
Meanwhile, the Acting
Executive Director of the Rivers State Sustainable Agency, RSSDA, Mr. Larry
Pepple has resigned his appointment.
Mr. Pepple in his resignation
letter explained that his decision came because after two years since his
appointment, he is yet to ascertain Governor Nyesom Wike’s vision for the agency
which was established by former Governor Peter Odili in 2007.
Mr. Pepple in the letter
alleged that he had written to Governor to streamline the operations of the
agency, visit scholarship students abroad to validate their financial
commitment to schools.
He also alleged that he had
recommended approval for payment of staff salaries arrears and also streamlines
Programmes that will fit into the core mandate of the agency.
The RSSDA director further
alleged that despite approval by the Governor, these suggestions are yet to be
implement.
