Nigerian Professor discovers rock formation with potential of oil in Abia State

A rock formation with the potential of oil has been discovered in Lokpanta, Abia State. 

A renowned academic, Professor Emeka Ekweozor who made the discovery after forty years study of the rock said the motivation was to show other areas of oil deposits in the country. 

Professor Ekweozor was optimistic that the rock formation which cut across Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River to Lagos State If harnessed would be additional source of revenue generation for the country. 

The Geochemist while acknowledging that paucity of funds was contributory to the delay in the study called on government to set aside grants for research work in the country. 

Professor Ekweozor, who has been to several countries in his academic pursuit, maintained that the nation is blessed with scientists who can compete favourably at any level the world over.
