MONKEY POX SCARE: State Commissioners call for calm,students to return to school
Also, Rivers State Commissioner for Health,
Professor Princewill Chike has called on the residents of the state to remain calm
as there was no health official from the State Government nor from the Military
that is injecting monkey pox into children in schools.
Professor Chike in a media briefing in Port
Harcourt, expelled the rumor that military personnel were going round schools
to inoculate such vaccine into children.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Health stressed
that after going run most schools in the state, it was confirmed that the
rumour had no bases as no military official was sighted in any school in the
state.
Professor Chike however confirmed the outbreak of
chicken pox in Okujagu, Rumuolumeni and Choba areas and urged the people to
maintain good personal hygine.

Meanwhile, Rivers
State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Emma Okah has called
on the public to return their kids to school as the State
Government will continue to ensure their peace and security.
Mr. Emma Okah made the
call while reacting to the alleged forceful immunization of school children by
some military men in the State.
Meanwhile the State Government has ordered the
arrest of anyone attempting to vaccinate any child in any school premises in the
State, noting that inoculation is personal and consent of the State Government
and parents must first be sought and obtained before it can be administered on
any school child in a school premises.
The Commissioner for
information further added that the State Government has set up a Task Force to
ensure that no school is violated in the State for the purpose of imunising any
child.
