Mgbuosimini Killing: Security Expert calls for a quick formation of local Vigilante groups


A security expert Colonel Chinedu Owhondah has called for immediate establishment of local vigilante groups in various communities to help curtail the upsurge of criminal activities in the society.
Retired Colonel Owhondah made the call while condemning the killings in some communities in Rivers State, especially the recent attack on residents of Mgbuosimini.
He said the local vigilantes will work closely with the Police as they are familiar with the terrain
Colonel Owhondah however suggested that the members be profiled by the Police so as not to allow criminals infiltrate their membership.
“Security is not just security agencies’ business alone, it’s everybody’s business, Put Vigilante groups in place so that they can also help with security agencies with intelligent information to work with.
He further blamed the Rivers State Police Command for not being proactive to prevent the recent killings in Mgbuosimini, Stating that the Police should have mounted checkpoints and deploy marine Police on the waterways linking the area to other riverine communities following previous attacks in these communities.
