Fiscal Sustainability Index: Rivers State Government reveals how it achieved the feat.

Rivers State Government says it came tops in the newly published Fiscal Sustainability Index Report because of the prudence of the Governor Nyesom Wike led administration in the management of public resources.
In a statement, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications Mr. Emma Okah, citing the report, said Rivers, Lagos, Ogun and Kano States are ahead of the other states in terms of Internally Generated Revenue.
According to Mr. Okah, the report is an endorsement of visionary leadership in the State, adding that the state government will continue to promote the wellbeing of the people, initiate laudable programmes and execute projects that will improve the living standards of Rivers people.
According to the report by a budget transparency advocacy group, while Lagos State records the highest Internally  Generated Revenue, IGR, in Nigeria, its huge debt of over seven hundred and thirty four billion naira as at December 2016, gives Rivers an edge in terms of fiscal sustainability.
