EAST WEST ROAD: Ogoni group to protest deplorable state of road

The National Coordinator of Ogoni Youth Federation, Mr. Legborsi Yamaabana says, the organization has commenced the mobilization of youths to block the East West road, to protest the deplorable condition of the Akpajo-Eleme axis of the road.

Mr. Yamaabana who was reacting to the accident that claimed three lives along the Akpajo axis of the East West road on Saturday, lamented that the accident would have been avoided if relevant authorities had rehabilitated the bad section of the road.

While wondering why the road leading to important multi-national establishments should be left in that state, the Youth leader called for rehabilitation of the road, to avoid a mass action by the youths.

On the implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme report, Mr. Yamaabana lamented that over one year after it’s launching, virtually nothing has been done towards cleaning up oil impacted sites in Ogoni.

The youth leader further called for the reveal of the over six years old UNEP report to align with present reality.
